NATURAL SILK DYEING WORKSHOP WITH LU FRANCE

Pump up the color in a new way with a NATURAL SILK DYEING WORKSHOP at the HIRO CLARK STORE with LU FRANCE. The workshop is part of a series of FREE events that celebrate our community and the partners that make La La Land shine.

Join founder France Malvar as she goes deep on the art of natural dyeing on silk. We’ll make a plant dyed silk habotai scarf using flowers, leaves, and kitchen waste. France will demonstrate how turn trash into treasure and extract pigments from everything from onion skins to fruit peels. Participants will make a dyed silk bandana to take home.

France Malvar is a San Diego-based textile artist born and raised in the Philippines. Originally an early childhood educator, she founded Lu France to share her love of craft with the people in SoCal and beyond.

Ticket: FREE. No experience necessary. All materials will be provided.
