THE TALENT // DARREN KENNEDY

Introducing Darren Kennedy, the popular TV host, entrepreneur, and style expert known for his sharp wit and Irish charm.

Originally from Dublin, Darren has made his mark on both sides of the Atlantic with appearances ranging from Dancing With the Stars to his acclaimed documentary Gay Daddy.

Read on to discover his favorite L.A. movie, his first Hollywood crush, and the most glam story about sipping margaritas we’ve ever heard.

Do you have a favorite L.A. story?

There are many, but one that always makes me smile is the time I was invited to a Hollywood Hills dinner party, thinking it was going to be a casual affair. I turned up in relaxed tee, jeans and Converse… only to realize it was a themed cocktail event hosted by a major studio head. I ended up next to a very charming and well-known actress, (who shall remain nameless), both of us sipping margaritas by the fire pit like it was the most natural thing in the world. Only in L.A.!

What’s your favorite movie about L.A.?

Clueless — hands down. It’s fashion, sass, and social commentary all wrapped up in 90s nostalgia. Plus, Cher Horowitz basically invented the virtual wardrobe.

What's your favorite L.A. soundtrack?

Drive — moody, neon, a bit dangerous… It captures the romance and the mystery of this city. It’s the perfect late-night cruising playlist when the city starts to glow.

Where do you disappear to when it’s time to skip town?

If it’s not back to my Ireland to see family & reset, Joshua Tree is my sanctuary. Just far enough from the chaos, with that incredible energy, stunning design, and the kind of sunsets that bring me right back to the moment.

Who’s your biggest L.A. icon?

James Dean. That effortless cool, rebel heart and timeless style. The original Hollywood outsider.

What’s your fave Hiro Clark go-to?

I love a classic Hiro Clark tee — clean, structured, and elevated. The “Vote For Pedro” printed tee is a go-to. I also can’t get enough of my sleeveless “Daddy” tee for workouts and my orange dad cap for a pop of colour!

Beach, mountains, or desert?

Growing up in Ireland, it has to be beach — without question. There’s something endlessly restorative about the ocean air and the rhythm of the waves. It’s where I go to get away from it all.

It’s sunrise: are you more likely to be getting up early or finally going to bed?

Neither and both! Even if I do wake early, I prefer a lazy morning in bed with coffee than jumping out of the bed the minute my eyes open. Slow mornings are the ultimate luxury if you ask me.

Who was your first Hollywood crush?

Brad Pitt — that smouldering gaze in Legends of the Fall? Game over. The definition of rugged charm.
