THE TALENT // DENNIS KLAFFERT
Meet Dennis Klaffert. He’s a guy who doesn’t fit into fashion. Instead, he bends it to fit him.
Read our Q&A with Dennis and get the low-down on the L.A. he loves. From existential 2am taco runs to going up against a clown in an audition, he’s seen everything this town has to offer.
We asked him everything from his first Hollywood crush to where he heads when he wants to skip town. He’s keeping his lips sealed on at least one of those.
Read on to find out what secrets he’s spilling and what stays in the vault.
Do you have a favorite L.A. story?
I once got stuck in traffic next to a guy doing vocal warm-ups in full clown makeup. Ten minutes later, we both ended up at the same audition. He booked it. I got a parking ticket. Classic L.A.
What’s your favorite movie about L.A.?
Heat. Because nothing says “L.A.” like existential criminals, sunlit shootouts, and Robert De Niro trying to outrun his own loneliness on the 105.
What's your favorite L.A. soundtrack?
Drive. It turns every 2am taco run into an existential, synth-soaked dreamscape. Bonus points if your car’s A/C is broken.
Where do you disappear to when it’s time to skip town?
Can’t say. That’s why it still works.
Who’s your biggest L.A. icon?
The Hollywood sign, but only from behind. It’s the loneliest view in town.
What’s your fave Hiro Clark go-to?
The perfect white tee. Because in L.A., dressing “effortless” takes a suspicious amount of effort. Hiro Clark just makes it look easy.
Beach, mountains, or desert?
All three in one day — it’s the only L.A. flex that’s better than knowing someone with a pool and parking.
It’s sunrise: are you more likely to be getting up early or finally going to bed?
Getting up early looks better on paper. But the truth? I’ve seen more sunrises from the wrong side of sleep.
Who was your first Hollywood crush?
Honestly, I don’t remember who. But I remember wanting to be the kind of person they’d see across the room and stay for.
